Prita answers doctors association summons

JAKARTA: Prita Mulyasari, who was recently acquitted of libel after complaining about treatment she received at Omni International Hospital, said she would answer a summons from the Indonesian Disciplinary Council of Doctors (MKDDI) Wednesday.

Prita said she was summoned to clarify her case with the council, which is part of the Indonesian Doctors' Association (IDI).

"I am willing to answer the request," she told tempointeraktif.com.

Prita was charged with defamation by the Banten Prosecutor's Office, which earlier filed an appeal against the Tangerang District Court's decision to acquit her of the charges. The prosecutors charged her with violating a new law on transferring electronic information.

Prita, a mother of two, was arrested for defamation after her email complaints were distributed across the Internet through mailing lists and online blogs.
