Confederations Cup Player Ratings: Brazil 1-0 South Africa

South Africa battled for a lion's share of the game, but came unstuck from a dead-ball situation, executed by substitute Daniel Alves.

Julio Cesar: 7.0 - Kept his concentration well to get his mitts to dangerous balls, and generally saved well when called upon.

Maicon: 7.0 - Never needed an excuse to flirt with the final third. Corner-delivery was initially too heavy.

Lucio: 8.0 - A strong presence in Brazil's back-line who sniffed-out danger well. Physically impressive. Good touches. Let his marker go, though, for South Africa's first real chance.

Luisao: 5.5 - Gave away a free-kick in a dangerous area after clipping Parker with a left-boot. Did not look comfortable at the back.

Andre Santos: 6.0 - Lost possession in a dangerous area, and was guilty of sloppy passing at times too. Unleashed a long left-shot shot in the first half. Was substituted for Daniel Alves.

Felipe Melo: 7.5 - Found space in the middle of the park. Played a fine trivela pass into Kaka's path. Changed play by sending in a perfectly-judged cross-field pass into Maicon's path but the roaming right-back failed to take a touch that was befitting of it.

Gilberto Silva: 6.5 - Crisp, short, passing. A typical display from the invisible wall.

Ramires: 7.0 - Good early effort. Tried to get on the score-sheet a handful of times.

Kaka: 7.5 - Great control, fine bursts from midfield. Had a great chance to break the deadlock but his shot sailed wide from 18-yards. Confidently countered but was unable to beat Khune. Showed good strength on a run down the line early in the second-half, but his cut-back failed to find a team-mate.

Robinho: 7.0 - One series of step-overs was followed by a stumbled, but a back-heel found a team-mate while another trick drew space. Attempted an over-head kick but failed to find the target.

Fabiano: 6.0 - Play developed around him, but he was rarely involved. Had a tame shot easily collected by Khune just after the 60-minute mark.

Subs

Alves: 7.0 - Won the game for Brazil with a superb free-kick.

Kleberson: n/a.

SOUTH AFRICA

Khune: 6.5 - Got his gloves to an early shot from Ramires. Denied Andre Santos, and got down well to keep his hands on a Kaka shot. Conceded the game's only goal from a set-piece.

Masilela: 6.5 - Late and high challenge was left un-cautioned. Got forward well and showed good chase.

Booth: 7.5 - Communicated well with his centre-back partner and even when trouble in the box flared, coped well. Managed to cut-out incisive through-balls. Never hesitant to get stuck in, and was oft composed, calm, and collected.

Mokoena: 7.5 - Strong clearances, and fine tackling. Got a good head onto a first-half set-piece but his header was off-target. Gave away the foul that led to the goal.

Gaxa: 7.0 - Capitalised well on Santos' mistake in the early stages, but his shot was slightly wayward.

Modise: 6.0 - Mixed-passing in midfield. Had options to pass but didn't need an invitation to press, and shoot.

Mhlongo: 7.0 - Unfussy, often unseen, but kept to his task of stifling Brazil's forward plays and seemed to keep a lid on most things.

Pienaar: 8.5 - Carried the ball well, but sometimes kept it too long. Showed good determination by trying to win interceptions and press for possession. Had good balance. A right-foot strike from outside the box tested Cesar but the Brazilian glovesman got his fingertips to Pienaar's effort. Threw himself into an opposing free-kick to deny the chance.

Dikgacoi: 7.0 - When in possession he kept a close space to the rest of his midfield to try to initiate short swift passes. Like Mhlongo, sat deep in midfield and stuck to a chore that hardly ever draws praise.

Tshabalala: 6.5 - Powerfully drove a dead-ball at Julio Cesar's fists.

Parker: 5.5 - Initial touches on the ball were heavy, and seemed hurried in possession. Is still learning the ropes of leading the line in an international tournament game, but was also isolated.

Subs

Mphela: n/a, Mashego: n/a, van Heerden.

Player Ratings: Spain 0-2 United States

The United States produced one of the biggest shocks in Confederations Cup history by beating Spain this evening and Goal.com was on hand to rate the players on show...

SPAIN

Casillas 5.5 - Went down too early for the first goal when he probably should have done better, couldn't do anything about the second and aside from that, didn't have much else to do.

Ramos 5.5 - Great display of attacking football down the right but unfortunately he will be remembered most for his idle touch on the ball in the six-yard box that allowed Dempsey to pounce for the second goal.

Puyol 6.0 - Caught out a couple of times by the movement of the American forwards and was lucky that one or two offside decisions went his way.

Pique 6.0 - Did a decent job in defence but like his partner did get saved by the linesman's flag on a few occasions.

Capdevila 5.0 - Turned far too easily by Altidore for the goal as he should have stood up to him and caught out of position more than once.

Fabregas 6.0 - Out fought in the midfield and even though he made a couple of decent passes, none of them changed the game.

Xavi 6.0 - Not given time and space to play and unbelievably he looked rushed at times in the centre of the pitch.

Alonso 5.5 - Saw a lot of the ball in midfield but didn't create much and will probably be disappointed with his display.

Riera 5.5 - Some poor touches out on the wing mixed with some promising runs made for a frustrating evening.

Torres 6.0 - Showed some great skill towards the end of the first-half to fashion a chance for himself but didn't get that many chances throughout and looked frustrated.

Villa 5.5 - Spurned some good chances in the opening forty-five minutes and again after the break. Didn't look at his best this evening by any means.

SUBS

Cazorla 5.5 - Didn't add to the team at all and lost the ball cheaply once or twice.

Mata 6.0 - Saw the ball a lot out on the left but none of his crosses produced any good chances.

UNITED STATES

Howard 8.0 - Good save on Torres with his feet near the end of the first half and after the break he was even busier, making some great stops to deny most of the Spanish front line.

Spector 7.0 - Got caught out of position a couple of times but always seemed to atone for his mistakes and battled hard.

DeMerit 8.0 - Outstanding at the centre of defence as he flew into blocks, made great tackles and kept both Torres and Villa in check.

Onyewu 8.0 - Like his partner at the back, 'Gooch' was brilliant and dominated both in the air and on the ground throughout.

Bocanegra 5.5 - Playing at left-back, Bocanegra was beaten a few times by Ramos and Torres and ended up going quite narrow, allowing the Spaniards time on the wing which fortunately for him they did not benefit from.

Dempsey 8.0 - Flicked in a lovely ball to Altidore for the opening goal and he deserved his goal for the determination he showed throughout the match.

Bradley 6.0 - Worked incredibly hard in the midfield to close down the likes of Xavi and Fabregas but the red card late on, whether deserved or not, taints his display.

Clark 7.0 - Another who worked hard to shut down Spain and made a superb block to deny Ramos in the second-half.

Donovan 7.0 - Some great deliveries from set-pieces and also created the second goal with a teasing ball into the box from the right.

Altidore 7.5 - Would have been desperate to score this evening and will no doubt be delighted that it was his Villarreal team-mate Capdevila who he turned for his goal. Even though he looked a little inexperienced at times with some of his passing, he worked hard and showed great determination.

Davies 5.5 - Tried a spectacular overhead kick early on that went wide but drifted out of the game as it went on and was taken off by Bradley.

SUBS

Bornstein 6.5 - Like the rest of the team he worked hard and gave everything he had to stop the Spaniards.

Feilhaber 6.5 - Came on late but added some energy to the side and defended well.

Casey 5.5 - Played a few poor passes after coming on when he could have done better.

The best programs on TV

Research into the nation’s television viewing habits has revealed most people regard news and talk show programs to be the best in terms of education, but the majority still prefer to watch soap operas and reality shows.

“Our research shows that viewers regard news and talk shows to be the best television programs to watch,” the Science, Aesthetics and Technology Foundation Deputy Director, Agus Sudibyo, told a seminar at Tarumanegara University in Grogol, West Jakarta, on Tuesday.

“However, our research also shows that the same people still prefer to watch soap operas and reality shows, which they themselves say are low quality,” he added.

The results were drawn from a survey of 220 respondents across 11 major cities, including Medan, Palembang, Bandung and Jakarta. Around 90 percent of those who took part in the research, conducted between April 7 and April 13, were university graduates.

The respondents claimed the top five television programs were Metro TV’s Kick Andy talk show, TV One’s Apa Kabar Indonesia Malam talk show, SCTV’s Liputan 6 Petang daily news program, RCTI’s Seputar Indonesia news program and Trans TV’s Bocah Petualang children’s education program.

However, the same respondents said the five programs they watched the most were SCTV’s Cinta Fitri teen soap opera, RCTI’s Dewi soap opera and three reality shows from Trans TV — Termehek-mehek, Me VS Mom and Jika Aku Menjadi.

“The respondents said soap operas completely lacked when it came to encouraging social empathy, exemplifying good behavior or being suitable for children,” Agus said.

Around one-fifth of respondents believed the popular soap operas, such as Cinta Fitri, were quality
programs.

“It was also ironic to discover that the state education institution, the National Education Ministry, prefers to run its advertisements about education during soap operas programs. I think the ministry needs to really consider when to run its commercials and not base its decision just on popularity but on substance as well,” Agus said.

RCTI’s editor-in-chief, Arief Suditomo, told the seminar the national television industry needed to fully commit to strengthening its role as a public education service by moving away from airing poor-quality shows.

“I admit that ratings are important for the industry. But we must also commit to advocating better
education programming for the public.

Cissokho Could Still Join Milan At A Later Date - Adriano Galliani

Milan general manager Adriano Galliani confirmed that an agreement had been reached with Porto for the transfer of full-back Aly Cissokho.

However, his failed medical was the main reason for the cancellation of this agreement, even though a deal could still be reached sooner or later.

"We have been friends with the Porto president for many years," explained the Rossoneri's director to Milan Channel. "What he says is true.

"The contract was sealed also with a handshake, but it was cancelled at the medical visits.

"The medical found that there were problems and with a written opinion by the doctors I cannot do otherwise. Without these problems, the player would have joined us.

"Either Cissokho arrives or we keep our players, we have signed [Ignazio] Abate yesterday. On Cissokho there are no limits, there are no end terms, he can also arrive later, because either he arrives or we keep our players."

Milan are hoping that the Portuguese side can lower their demands for the player, but it seems that this will not happen according to the latest speculation.

David Villa Will Join Barcelona When The Price Is Right - Report

David Villa will sign for Barcelona this summer when Valencia and the European champions have agreed a fee and a method of payment, according to reports in Spain.

The Spanish international striker's next move will be made public after this weekend, but both Sport and El Mundo Deportivo have both stated that he will move to Camp Nou.

Barcelona have been in the driving seat since talks took place two weeks ago between the clubs, but the only thing remaining to be sorted is the price tag involved.

El Mundo Deportivo believe that Barca will offer €40 million and could go to €45m, while Sport think that a deal is almost settled for €40m up front with €3m more depending on his achievements.

Sport also claim that Villa has told his agent, Jose Luis Tamargo, to listen to the Blaugrana president, Joan Laporta, and talk to him about contracts.

Samuel Eto'o looks set to leave Camp Nou after Pep Guardiola is believed to have asked the board at the beginning of the summer break for a new striker.

Impressed by his goalscoring exploits last term, the coach is not a big fan of the temperamental forward's attitude at times and now wants his own man brought in.

Sriwijaya vs Persipura

Sriwijaya FC is determined to be the party pooper as Persipura bids for a double, after the team from Palembang, South Sumatra, advanced to the Copa Indonesia final with a 3-1 win against Persijap Jepara at home on Wednesday.

Budi Sudarsono opened the scoring for the host before the 10-minute mark at Jakabaring Stadium, before Obiora struck twice in the 27th and 72nd minutes to wrap up the victory.

Persijap pulled a consolation goal through Pablo Franchez three minutes before the whistle.

The win sealed a 5-1 aggregate win for Sriwijaya, following an earlier 2-0 away win. Sriwijaya will take on Persipura Jayapura, the newly crowned Super League champion, in Sunday's final.

Persipura is gunning for the double this year, after chalking up a 6-4 aggregate win from its two matches against Deltras Sidoarjo.

Hosting Persijap in the second leg, Sriwijaya looked to be taking things lightly by resting some of its regular starters.

However, Sriwijaya was still too strong for the visitor. After failing to cash in early on a flurry of goal chances, Budi brought his team in front in the sixth minute.

Despite dominating the game, the next goals did not come until the second half, with Obiora on target for both goals.

Sriwijaya coach Rahmad Darmawan was beaming with victory.

"We're happy about reaching the final," he said.

"We've rested several key players for the final."

Inter Ready To Offer £23 Million For Chelsea Hitman Drogba - Report

According to English newspaper
The Daily Star, Inter have not given up on signing Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.

Jose Mourinho has reportedly asked the Blues to give him an assessment of the Ivory Coast international, along with a price-tag ,as the Nerazzurri would apparently be willing to pay up to £23 million for his services.

The coach of the Serie A champions and the player have constantly stated their admiration for one another in the news, but have always been skeptical that a deal to bring the hitman to Inter would take place.

Drogba flourished under the guidance of Guus Hiddink at Stamford Bridge last season following the departure of coach Luiz Felipe Scolari. He was especially effective in the Champions League, scoring key goals in Chelsea's run to the semi-finals.

The Nerazzurri have already brought in reinforcements up front this summer, signing Diego Milito from Genoa, as well as being on the verge of signing starlet Marko Arnautovic from FC Twente.

Andriy Shevchenko Wants Roma Move - Report

Andriy Shevchenko is looking for a new club this summer and the Chelsea-owned hitman has highlighted Roma as his favoured destination, according to his consultant, Donato Albanese.

"Sheva has already stated he would be incredibly happy to play with Roma. The negotiations would not be a problem," the player's consultant, told the Il Corriere dello Sport.

"There are other teams that want him, but before making his choice, he is waiting to see how this opportunity to join Rome pans out."

Shevchenko spent the past season on-loan at Milan ,but failed to make an impact, not even registering one goal in Serie A action. It is highly unlikely he will remain at Chelsea after his struggles during the past few years.

The 32-year-old's best years were with the Rossoneri from 1999-2006, when he scored over 170 times for the club.

Transfer Rumours And Round-Up: June 25-26

A confirmed one first: Raul Albiol has moved to Real Madrid, penning a five-year deal after leaving Valencia. The fee? We don't know - the 'undisclosed' disease strikes again! But, rumours within Spain have it at no more than €15 million - probably less.

Real Madrid aren't finished spending yet, oh no. Ricardo Carvalho of Chelsea - thought to be close to Inter - is said to be on the shopping list.

But Inter can't be counted out: another Chelsea man, Didier Drogba, has been linked with them, as England looks like it's selling more than it's buying (at least, if one believes the paper.)

It's not all one-way traffic, though. Manchester United fans will have seen their team linked with Real Madrid forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (who only arrived in Spain in January, remember), as well as not-quite local boy turned good Giuseppe Rossi, late of Villarreal.

On the other side of the northern city, Jo could be en route to Everton as makeweight in the deal to bring Joleon Lescott to the City of Manchester Stadium. Not far away, Blackburn Rovers are after Benfica's Oscar Cardozo, while Benfica themselves weigh up a loan move for Javier Saviola of Real Madrid.

Down at Chelsea, the Blues are, according to Carlos Tevez's agent, interested in Tevez, as are Manchester City and 'another club'. Andrei Shevchenko, not interesting Chelsea much, is said to favour a move to Roma.

In Rome, Lazio president Lotito has mooted a possible return for Pavel Nedved, while further north, Aly Cissokho won't come to Milan unless the price is paid, according to Porto.

Finally, a tale of two Phillips: Filipe is ready to leave Deportivo La Coruna for Barcelona, and Felipe Melo is happy at Fiorentina, says his agent.

City official named suspect in graft case

JAKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named a city official a suspect in a graft case in an advertisement project worth Rp 5.6 billion (US$540,000).

The commission's deputy chairman for law enforcement, Bibid Samad Rianto, said the suspect, only identified by his initials, JES, was a head member of the city law bureau.

"As of this week, we have stepped up the status of the investigation," Bibid said.

JES, he said, had allegedly charged an illegal fee of 10 percent in a project that was included in the 2006/2007 city budget.

Bibid added that his commission had questioned several witnesses in the case, which had reportedly caused the state Rp 3.9 billion in losses.

The suspect would be charged for violating articles 2 and 3 of the Corruption Law, Bibid said.

The KPK has yet to name any other suspects in the case.

Be festive, be joyous, it's Jakarta!

Jakarta turned 482 on Monday, and Indonesians across the city flocked to festivals and events on the weekend to celebrate the history of the bustling capital.

Legend has it that in 1527, Fatahillah, a fighter from Demak in Central Java, attacked and conquered the Sunda Kelapa harbor on June 22, renaming it Jayakarta.

During the Dutch occupation, Jayakarta was known as Batavia, before finally Jakarta, or Djakarta based on traditional spelling, became the official title of Indonesia's capital city.

Jakarta heart and soul is in its multicultural makeup, with Chinese, Indians, Arabs, Portuguese adding to the numerous ethnicities from across the archipelago to fuse the city's unique identity.

Several of these cultures can be seen in all their color and grandeur at festivals across the city which run during the anniversary period: Pasar Baru Festival, Batavia Art Festival, Jakarta 10k, Jakarta Great Sales, Kite Festival, Jakarta Fair and many others.

The fairs and the festivals are always welcomed by Jakartans from all walks of life, especially students, who welcome an extended holiday every June and July.

So, forget about all the traffic and the pollution, if only just for a brief moment.

Grab some food, indulge in a bit of shopping, take a moment to enjoy the kites and fireworks and revel in the music and arts Jakarta has to offer.

VJ Ben finds fun with his bicycle

JAKARTA: It’s good for your health and for the environment: MTV VJ Ben Kasyafani knows exactly why he chooses cycling for fun despite all the sophisticated high-tech electronic toys on offer.

In the past few months, the 26-year-old says, his bicycle has been his favorite toy, accompanying him everywhere, morning or afternoon, during his spare time.

His new hobby, he says, started by chance.

“My dad actually bought that bicycle for exercise,” says the boyfriend of actress Marshanda.

“But no one at my home used it, so I thought, why shouldn’t I use it for some fun?” he adds.

Ben rediscovered a love for cycling around his housing complex as a form of relaxation, as well as a form of transportation to get to the fitness center.

“Actually, just like other boys, I loved cycling when I was a kid,” says Ben, now also a law student at Pelita Harapan University in Tangerang. “But when I got older, I didn’t have much time [for cycling].

“But it’s great that I can cycle again now,” smiles Ben, who was a radio DJ for Prambors FM in Jakarta before becoming a finalist in the 2007 MTV VJ Hunt.

Robinho Wants Barcelona’s Samuel Eto’o At Manchester City

A fab four of Robhino, Tevez, Santa Cruz and Eto'o could be playing fantasy football in Manchester next season...

Roque Santa Cruz has already joined Robinho at Manchester City and Carlos Tevez will complete his £25 million switch across town when he officially leaves Manchester United on July 1.

The Sun has reported that the Brazilian attacker Robinho wants City boss Mark Hughes to bring in Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o to complete a holy quadrant of attacking options at Eastlands.

The Brazilian said, "If Eto'o comes too he will add even more talent to the squad.

"We need four top-quality forwards because the season is so tough in England.

"I hope the club keep signing players with that quality. If so, we will be almost unbeatable."

Robinho welcomed the new arrival of Santa Cruz from Blackburn Rovers and was also looking forward to the imminent arrival of Tevez and the possibility that Eto’o could join City as well.

He said, "A player like Santa Cruz is more than welcome and I've heard a deal for Carlos will be sorted very soon.

"That would be great because Tevez is a world-class talent and I would be happy to play alongside him.

"It is very good to know my club is going for top-quality players like these. Now I hope we can get Eto'o as well." f

Barcelona To Sell Eto’o And Offer €40m To Valencia For David Villa - Report

Barcelona may be reportedly on a tight transfer budget this summer, but that will not stop them from coming back and having another crack at signing David Villa.

Despite Valencia president Manuel Llorente recently declaring that the striker is no longer for sale, bar a “scandalous offer”, Onda Cero believes that the Blaugrana are hoping to tempt the troubled Mestalla outfit with a decent proposal.

Sport, meanwhile, is confident that Barca will be in pole position to land ‘El Guaje’, when and if they make an official bid, because arch rivals Real Madrid had only recently affirmed, via director-general Jorge Valdano, that they are now out of the running for Villa’s signature as the two clubs are unable to break the impasse over his transfer fee.

The ‘Holy Trinity’ at the Camp Nou - Pep Guardiola, Txiki Begiristain and Joan Laporta - have already acknowledged that they consider Villa a vital part of their future plans, while a large section of the Catalan-based press believe that the Che hitman would prefer Barca over Madrid, in the event that the two rivals collide again for his signature.

The only issue for Barcelona now is their budget. ‘El Tricampeon’ have no more than €35 million of their own money to spend this summer, but they are ready to rectify that with the sale of Samuel Eto’o.

According to TV3, the Cameroonian is only valued between €30-35m, a significantly inferior amount compared to his true market appraisal due to his contract expiry (June 2010), but it will be more than enough to fund the bulk of the €40m bid Barca are expected to offer Valencia.

Chelsea Fear Zidane Will Lure Franck Ribery To Real Madrid

Frenchman Frank Ribery was a team-mate of Zinedine Zidane at the last World Cup in Germany 2006, and the pair could be reunited once more at Real Madrid.

It is no secret that the former FIFA World Player of the Year is hell-bent on tempting his fellow countryman to the Santiago Bernabeu - and Chelsea are fearful that he may very well succeed.

The Guardian has reported that the new Blues manager, Carlo Ancelotti, is looking to make Ribery one of his star signings for the upcoming Premier League season.

The London club have supposedly made an opening bid of around €47 million to Bayern Munich for the France international, but, in what has become a frustrating start to their transfer season, the bid was rejected.

Furthermore, Ribery has stated that his preferred option would be to join Madrid.

Manchester United Ready To Pay €60 Million For Sergio Aguero - Reports

The striker has been rumoured to be leaving the Vicente Calderon this summer...

Manchester United are reportedly ready to pay €60 million to sign Sergio Aguero from Atletico Madrid this summer.

The Argentine striker was not in great form last season but is still regarded as one of the best young talents in Europe and United are apparently keen to bring him to Old Trafford.

However, as was reported earlier today, Atletico have stated that they will not be accepting any bids for Aguero or Diego Forlan, so any offer would have to be above his buy-out clause.

Marca reports that since Cristiano Ronaldo is all but gone from Old Trafford, United are ready to spend the €60 million to bring 'Kun' in.

One positive factor for the English club is that they have a good relationship with IMG, who negotiate matters for the Argentine forward amongst others.

Apparently the player himself would not be against a move to United, and he would be an ideal replacement for not only Cristiano Ronaldo, but also Carlos Tevez.

The Argentine looks set to move to cross-city rivals Manchester City, leaving United short up front and in need of a new forward.

The Red Devils' plan is reportedly to talk to Atletico about a possible deal and to try and negotiate a suitable price for the forward.

If the Spanish club are not willing to sell for under the buy-out clause, then it is thought that United are willing to pay the €60 million fee.

Real Madrid Want Xabi Alonso And Alvaro Arbeloa - Jorge Valdano

Real Madrid are still working on a double deal to prise Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa away from Liverpool...

Jorge Valdano has revealed that Real Madrid are still confident about signing both Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa from Liverpool, but would not divulge any further details.

Los Merengues' new general manager wanted the Reds duo to know that they are still wanted although he would not state at what stage the Spanish club's interest was at.

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez does not want to lose Alonso to his former club and Valdano chose to keep quiet about whether or not Madrid had officially made an approach.

"We have possibilities there but I don't want to say anything that will make the negotiation more difficult. We will wait a reasonable amount of time," he is quoted as saying by AS.

Arbeloa may be an easier prospect given Liverpool's recent signing of Glen Johnson and Valdano is hopeful because he feels the club's youth team product would be versatile.

"The lad only has a year left on his contract with Liverpool and this gives us more possibilities," he added.

"He can play in two or three positions and this versatility is good. He is another option to evaluate."

Ruling may change poll results again

The Constitutional Court has handed down a verdict confirming election fraud did take place in South Sulawesi and ruled in favor of the People’s Conscience Party (Hanura).

The ruling could lead to another change in the allocation of legislative seats after the court found the Golkar Party committed election fraud in three regencies during April’s general election.

“There were more than 3,300 votes which should not have been won by the Golkar Party. The Golkar Party should have won just under 48,000 votes in the province,” presiding judge Arsyad Sanusi said.

“Meanwhile, the Hanura Party should have garnered just over 47,500 votes.”

The lawyer representing the Golkar Party, Viktor Nadapdap, said the decision may lead to the party losing one seat in the House of Representatives.

“We might lose one House seat, that held by Sam Abbas,” he said.

“The seat might go to Hanura’s Dewi Yasin Limpo, who is the sister of the South Sulawesi governor.”
Another panel of judges at the court ruled to annul the legislative election results in five districts in Minahasa, North Sulawesi.

“The court considers that the plaintiff, the Concern for the National Functioning Party (PKPB), has proven that vote fraud did occur in those five districts in Minahasa, which led to the plaintiff losing votes,” said Constitutional Court chief Moh. Mahfud MD.

“The court therefore regards the results from the Minahasa Regency Legislative Council concerning the five districts suspended until re-evaluated. The plaintiff will earn five regional council seats.”

On Saturday, the court ordered the General Elections Commission (KPU) to hold a recount of the election results in seven districts in Batam, Riau Islands. The plaintiff was the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).

“The plaintiff has proven that there were inconsistencies in the vote-counting process in those districts,” Mahfud said.

“The KPU should hold a vote recount in those areas within 60 days from the announcement of this verdict.”

As of Monday, the court had processed 62 lawsuits connected to more than 500 cases alleging election violations. It has set a deadline to settle around 70 lawsuits, involving 600 cases, by Thursday.

On June 9, the court issued a verdict that changed the legislative poll results and ordered the KPU to conduct vote reruns in South Nias, North Sumatra and Yahukimo, Papua.

The court also issued a controversial decision on June 11, which could lead to around 26 legislators losing their seats in the House.

The court told the KPU to revise the election results after an error occurred in the seat allocation process, leading to seats being lost by the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Golkar Party, the United Development Party (PPP), the Great Indonesia Movement Party and the National Awakening Party (PKB)

Deco: I’m Not Happy At Chelsea, I Want Inter

The Portuguese has reiterated his desire to leave Stamford Bridge and is desperate to reunite with his compatriot Mourinho.

Serie A champions Inter are reportedly in talks with Premier League giants Chelsea over Portuguese pair Ricardo Carvalho and Deco and the midfielder admits he is looking for a fresh challenge.

“I had a rather difficult season at Chelsea. I had a serious injury and I could not play my best football,” Deco said to the Corriere dello Sport.

“I was hoping for something different. My agent, Jorge Mendes, has talked to the club and said that I am not happy at Chelsea. I know full well that I have a contract but I would like to leave.

“Are Inter my preferred destination? Yes, I am waiting and I would love for this deal to go through.”

Deco has worked under Jose Mourinho at Porto, where they won the Champions League in 2004, and hopes to play alongside want-away Swedish ace Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the San Siro.

“I choose Inter because they are a club with a great history and because I would like to work again under a coach like Mourinho,” explained the 31-year-old.

“We had two and a half fantastic years at Porto, during which we won all that we could.

“I hope ‘Ibra’ will stay, because he is an important player. He is one of the best around and I would love to have him as my team-mate.”

Transfer Rumours And Round-Up

With Florentino Perez back at the helm of Real Madrid, a day fails to go by without that behemoth of a club provoking a certain amount of transfer activity or speculation.

Today, seemingly, the Galacticos mark II have decided to make around nine first-team members available for transfer, the prominent Dutch contingent among them. Wesley Sneijder's agent has cooled any speculation linking his client with an exit though, while after last week making their interest in Ruud van Nistelrooy known, Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in for the younger model; Klaas Jan Huntelaar. There has yet to be contact from Juventus for Mahamadou Diarra however.

Despite acquiring two of the world's best players in the past week, Madrid are intent on making it three or four, with David Villa and Franck Ribery still being touted for arrivals in the Spanish capital. Valencia revealed that they have yet to receive a decent offer for their star-turn while Madrid's Galactico stock piling exercise may have hit the buffers at Bayern Munich. Karl Heinz Rummenigge is not selling Ribery to Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester United or anyone else for that matter.

Ribery's compatriot, Bacary Sagna, disclosed however, that he would be flattered to join Real Madrid, should they come calling. Sagna's club, Arsenal, are still seeking defensive reinforcements of their own and Thomas Vermaelen is widely expected to join the north London outfit in the next few days. He could tag-out Emmanuel Eboue; the Ivorian has admitted he may be forced to move on for some regular football. Also Emirates-bound could be Thomas Hitzlsperger of Stuttgart.

All this talk of right-backs brings us to Liverpool, who look to have tied up a £17m deal for Portsmouth's Glen Johnson, once of Chelsea.

The Pensioners could be set to tempt Carlos Tevez away from Manchester United, while Ricardo Carvalho readies himself for an Inter transfer.

For their part, the Italians seem set to do business with Lyon for their Brazilian winger Ederson. In his place would come the Nerazzurri's Brazilian winger Amantino Mancini.

Lazio claim that they are still waiting on a Napoli bid for Goran Pandev while Giuseppe Rossi's agent has rubbished claims that his client will leave Villarreal for Juventus with David Trezeguet going in the opposite direction.

There is speculation that a highly-rated goalkeeper could be readying himself for a Serie A exit; with Victor Valdes' contract talks hitting the skids at Barcelona, the European champions are allegedly interested in prising Sebastien Frey away from Fiorentina. More fancifully, the Blaugrana have been linked with an audacious swoop for Robinho.

Wolfsburg again seems to provide a veritable hub of activity; with Edin Dzeko's transfer to AC Milan now in the club's own hands, Peter Crouch has been touted as a replacement for the Bosnia and Herzegovina front-man.

In Portugal meanwhile, and Sporting CP could be finally set to lose their highly-rated duo, Miguel Veloso and Joao Moutinho; the pair could depart for the Premier League this summer.

Barcelona Won’t Pay More Than €40m To Bayern Munich For Ribery

The Blaugrana are following through on their stance of not paying excessive fees in the transfer market.

Barcelona’s chances of signing Franck Ribery from Bayern Munich are slowly slipping away, even though they reportedly retain first option to negotiate a transfer.

Latest rumours indicate that the French midfielder will only join Real Madrid and no one else if he decides to leave the Allianz Arena. And coupled with reports that the Blaugrana are unwilling to budge on their offer, any potential move to the Camp Nou could soon be dead in the water.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, under strict instructions from coach Pep Guardiola, Barca have set a limit of €40 million on Ribery and if they are required to pay even one Euro more, they will drop their pursuit for the 26-year-old.

So far, Barcelona have yet to lodge an official offer for Ribery, even though club president Joan Laporta had reached a verbal agreement with his counterpart Karl-Heinz Rummeneige a few months ago.

Since then, however, the Bavarians appear to have changed their mind about selling their star playmaker, as well as slapping a cheeky €100 million price tag on him to ward off.

The Manohara scandal

The Manohara case really disgusts me but it serves as an excellent example to all women with beautiful daughters that money and a royal title does not automatically guarantee happiness. Just look at the Princess Diana tragedy.

When will young women learn not to be blinded by money and titles because occasionally it really does not bring the fairy-tale happiness that many women crave? Blaming the Indonesian Embassy staff in Kuala Lumpur is not right.

Indeed, all individuals will turn to their respective embassies in time of need but it does not mean that the embassy will automatically lend a helping hand. Many embassies are already snowed under with problematic issues caused by their citizens. For four years I have lived in Latin America i.e. Bolivia, where there is no Indonesian Embassy.

I had to turn to the Indonesian Embassies in Buenos Aires and Brasilia for assistance and they have always supported and helped me, by issuing me a new passport within 24 hours or extending the duration of the current one.

Thumbs up to these two embassies. I do not have marriage problems; moreover, the embassy is not a marriage counselor in the first place.

If violence occurs within a marriage, many embassies do not want to get their fingers burned; they will tell all parties concerned that they should settle their domestic problems amiably and peacefully. Even the police are reluctant to interfere in a marriage gone sour.

They will ultimately advise you to get a lawyer and start divorce proceedings.

Only ignorant people think that money and a royal husband will automatically elevate them into the realms of the happy, rich and royal circle. When the opposite occurs and people do not get what they hoped for, they will resort to airing their dirty linen as a way out.

Manohara should really thank the Singapore Police and other parties involved for a successful escape. Now all TV channels in Indonesia will fight for the right to make a soap opera out of this repugnant case.

Is Manohara her mother's puppet?

Of course I sympathize with Manohara's predicament, but in the past days, after following the TV coverage about her and her mother, I can't suppress my growing doubts.

If Manohara's mother, Daisy Fajarina, really had the best interests of her daughter at heart, she would have gone straight to a renowned hospital in Jakarta upon arrival in Indonesia (or, better yet, a medical center in Singapore after leaving the hotel she escaped from) to subject Manohara to a thorough physical examination.

For the results of this important examination might be of great help for Manohara in strengthening her planned legal case against the Kelantan prince, her husband.

Instead, ever since they returned to Indonesia, Daisy Fajarina and Manohara have held numerous press conferences and, on one occasion, Manohara was dressed up to the hilt in yellow and gold finery and was almost all smiles during the interview.

Please pardon me for thinking so, but is that the way someone who has suffered incessant sexual, mental and physical abuse really behaves? It does seem that, as well as this being a very cheap plot to gain public sympathy, Manohara's mother is also milking her daughter's numerous assets for all they're worth with this situation.

If that is indeed the case, I pity Manohara, the poor puppet, all the more.

Top Ten IFFHS Club World Ranking

Barcelona have ended the 2008/09 league campaign as the best club in the world according to the rankings published by the ever-controversial IFFHS [International Federation of Football History & Statistics].

But the Blaugrana’s treble success wasn’t enough for them to claim sole position at the summit as they had to share the honours with fellow Champions League finalists, Manchester United after both sides accumulated 315 points.

Despite Barca’s success, there’s still a growing concern for Spanish football as the next best-placed La Liga team was Atletico Madrid down in 24th spot. League runners-up, Real Madrid, meanwhile, took an even bigger tumble when they slipped from 25th to 39th.

The situation is no less worrying for Italy with no Serie A teams inside the top ten. Amazingly, Juventus sit in 12th spot, six places ahead of Scudetto winners, Inter. AC Milan, who have just lost coach, Carlo Ancelotti, and are on the verge of losing their star playmaker, Kaka, are 36th, seven rungs behind Roma who only managed to secure sixth place in the league.

Not surprisingly, Premier League sides dominated the rankings with Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal making up the top five.
